Thunder on the Lakeshore; Ben’s first time flying!

Ryan surprised us today by whisking us away to Manitowoc, where they were hosting the “Thunder on the Lakeside” air show. We refused to disclose our plans to the boys until we arrived.

Jake LOOK! There’s helicopters!

Sure enough, Ben was right. There were helicopters, everywhere!

If only we could ride one…..

Oh, but good news!!! They were giving rides, and they seat up to 3 people (other than the pilot.) Surely the boys would be too nervous, though….

So excited, they can’t keep their feet on the ground!

There they go, up in the raining, ominous sky…. This was my vantage point with my feet safely planted on the Earth.

It would seem they had a great view from up there.

There’s Manitowoc from Ryan’s vantage point on the helicopter.

Even though it was Ben’s first time flying, it will also be the first time Jake will remember flight. He seemed to enjoy it!

Very reminiscent of a picture taken when Jake was first in a race car.. He likes things that go.

When they stepped off the copter, it was pouring and you could hear thunder crashing, but luckily there was no lightening.

So we booked it for the nearest hanger.

Ryan couldn’t get a picture of Ben from the copter because of the seating arrangements, but I think it’s clear that he enjoyed himself!

Once the rain let up a bit, we enjoyed the rest of the air show. There were a LOT of cool planes, and they did a lot of amazing tricks!

All in all, this was a great surprise. Thank you so much, Ryan! We love you.
